Wimborne Town (A)

Staines made the trip down to Wimborne Minster on the south coast for a critical Southern League South game against Wimborne Town. The Swans went into the game in 21st in the league table and their opponents not far above them in 17th position. Manager Rob Easom started MK Dons loanee Finn Tapp in the centre of defence in a starting lineup that didn’t feature a recognised striker, due to injuries to George Barker and Andy Ali. The bench featured three new players for the Swans; Russell, Obisanya and Folkes, who signed in midweek. The pitch at Wimborne was a

Swindon Supermarine (H)

The Swans entertained Swindon Supermarine on a cold and sodding wet Remembrance Weekend Saturday. Both sides marked 100 years since the end of World War One with a minute silence and wreath ceremony in the centre circle. Easom made one change from the starting lineup that faced Tiverton, with Barker replaced by Andy Ali. The Swans made a sharp start to the game with a half-chance being fashioned in the opening minute, with Abrahams’ effort routinely saved. In the 23rd minute, Will Henry saved Harry Agombar’s pinpoint free-kick from just over 25 yards out. However, the home side were not

Hanworth Villa (H)

The Swans entertained local Combined Counties League side in Hanworth Villa in the Middlesex Senior Cup. The game marked Robert Easom’s first home game in charge and a chance to progress into Quarter Final of the competition. Initially in the first half, the Swans had a significant amount of possession without too much threat to the opposition goal. However, this was until Luca Charles-Valentine unleashed fury from his right boot and fired in a stunning opening goal in the 20th minute. Staines then threatened as the break approached, forcing a couple of saves from the Hanworth keeper. Shortly after the break, Thomas

New manager Robert Easom took his first game in charge and included two debutants in his starting lineup, Wilson Changoka and Tanasheh Abrahams. Walton Casuals FC (A)

The Swans made the short trip to Walton Casuals on the evening of Tuesday 16 October and succumbed to a 3-1 defeat. Staines had the first chance of the game after 12 minutes when a raking pass from Agombar put Ruudi Clarke through one-on-one with the keeper but his shot was saved by Gerrar in the Casuals goal. Taureen Roberts would prove to be problematic for the Swans from Walton’s left side and he had a good chance which passed by the front post after utilising good skill to break free from defenders. In the 37th minute the Swans spurned

Merthyr Town FC (H)

Saturday 13 October marked Non League Day and the Swans were home in a Southern League South clash with Merthyr Town. Staines almost made a catastrophic start to the game when Merthyr’s Kerry Morgan sliding shot cannoned wide from close range after just two minutes. Andy Ali almost made Merthyr pay for this but his outside of the foot shot didn’t trouble the keeper or goal just two minutes later. Tom Meechan scored his first goal of the game for Merthyr after 13 minutes when his curled strike from the edge of the box found the top right corner of

Egham Town (A)

These two towns share many a historic connection: it was in Runnymede (which gives its name to the borough in which Egham is situated) that King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215, after many of the barons and bishops (and perhaps even the king himself) had spent the night at Staines. The last time that the two football clubs met was three years ago, to contest a special pre-season friendly for the Magna Carta Shield, celebrating the 800th anniversary of this world-changing event. Less than a mile and a half separates the centre spots at Staines Town’s Wheatsheaf Park
