Chairman’s Update

We have not played a match of any sort since December, and so our online news has been very thin these past few months, but I wanted to take this opportunity to provide a small update of events at the Club. First, you will want to know about the situation with the Manager’s post, which has been vacant since early January.  We took the deliberate decision to put off starting the selection process until we could actually meet the candidates.  As you know that CoViD restriction has only just been lifted, and the first meetings have been scheduled for this

ISTHMIAN LEAGUE SEASON 2020/21

The Isthmian League has this evening advised us of the outcome of the FA Alliance and Leagues Committees’ consultation regarding the effects of CoViD-19 on the current football season.  With only around 20% of League matches completed at Pyramid steps 3 to 6 (which includes Staines Town at Step 4), it has been decided to immediately curtail the 2020/1 season. There are still a few matters to be tidied up, including the fact that this decision must be rubber-stamped by the FA Council, and the fate of the Middlesex Senior Cup.  However, we do not expect to play another League

Chairman Statement

STATEMENT CONCERNING THE IMPACT OF CoViD-19 You will have seen yesterday (22 February 2021) that HM Government set out its proposed “road map” regarding the gradual lifting of pandemic restrictions across England.  No doubt you are wondering exactly what the implications of this statement are for football at our level (Step 4 of the non-League pyramid). All clubs at steps 3 to 6 were surveyed earlier this month, and the FA, who have the final say, have been collating the responses.  With Boris Johnson’s statement not far off, they decided to wait until after the Prime Minister had spoken, and

Staines Town FC and Tier 4

As you are no doubt aware, the Prime Minister announced on Saturday afternoon that London and most of the South East, including Staines, was, that very night, to be moved into a new CoViD Tier 4, which comes with a new raft of restrictions.  This comes as a blow the football world’s tentative plans to ease back into some sort of normality, coming as it did less than 24 hours after Staines was elevated from “High Risk” tier 2 to “Highest Risk” tier 3. As a result of these new and more stringent restrictions on grass roots football, we are

Following the announcements about the end of lockdown and the resumption of the Pitching In Isthmian League season, we are now in a position to confirm the next few Staines Town FC friendlies, beginning with a series of friendlies (as the players go through a new “mini-pre-season), and then on into our exciting League fixtures over the festive period.  Please note that some of the friendlies have unusual kick-off times, and also that the Ashford and Harlow league games will also be kicking-off early.
