Staines Town FC wishes to extend its thanks and recognition to David Norris, who yesterday (4 May 2021) decided to step down as Chairman of the STFC Supporters’ Club.  David has held that position since the Supporters’ Club was reconstituted in January 2015, and has guided the organisation with great skill and enthusiasm over the past six seasons, regardless of results on the field.  He also held the post of Supporters’ Representative on the STFC General Committee.

David, whose business has also been a valued sponsor at Wheatsheaf Park, revealed his decision to fellow STFCSC members this morning, and cited the very long hours he is having to put in at work, along with the pressures of an impending house move, as the reasons that he could no longer commit the time and energies that the role requires.

His history with the Staines Town goes back a lot further than six years, however, as he has long been a supporter, and in fact was a part of Mick Clarke’s original Juniors set-up in the 1970s, appearing for the Club’s Under 14 side alongside the likes of Martin Busk, Steve Jones, and Mark Dawber in the 1977/8 West Middlesex League Cup Final against Spring Grove.

David has been a great servant to the Club.  We wish him well in all he does, and look forward to seeing him on the terraces again in the not-too-distant future.
