We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Denzel Gerrar for the upcoming season.
Denzel, 24, most recently played underneath gaffer Anthony Gale for Walton Casuals. He picked up the Supporters Player of the Year gong in 2017-18, with his penalty save sending Walton up to face the Swans in the Southern League last season. In his time with the club, he also gained the record for the most clean sheets for the Casuals at Step 4 and was considered a fans’ favourite.
He started his playing career as a professional at Millwall in 2013, remaining with the London club until 2015, which included a small loan spell at Lewes.
In 2015, Gerrar left Millwall and was picked up by Histon prior to a move to Sutton United towards the end of the 2015-16 season. He has spent the past three seasons with Gale at Walton Casuals.
The Gale View
“I’m delighted Denzel Gerrar will be joining us at Staines Town Football Club. Denzel is someone in who I trust and for me still wonder how this young man is not currently a professional footballer. Denzel has shown his loyalty to me as a manager by joining me in this new era at Staines Town. He has also stressed how he is looking forward to playing for the club and went on to say what a fantastic fanbase the club has. I’m sure Denzel will become a fans’ favourite”
