Wraysbury ‘keeper makes matchday squad

The relationship between Staines Town FC and Wraysbury Village FC took a further step forward when Matty Bonnett was handed the number 13 shirt by Jack Porter for Staines’ Buildbase FA Trophy tie on Saturday (9 Oct 2021).  Matty was one of several Wraysbury players who dual registered with Staines Town last month.

The 23 year old, who is the regular goalkeeper for the Thames Valley Premier League side, became the first Wraysbury player to be called into The Swans’ matchday squad, understudying for Joe Ringer in the match against Three Bridges.  The Stags were without a fixture on Saturday, and this presented the perfect opportunity to introduce him to the group, ensuring that there would be cover if Joe were  to sustain an injury.  In the event, Ringer was his dependable self throughout the 90 minutes of Staines’ exciting victory, but Matty enjoyed the afternoon and can look forward to further call-ups in the future.
